BROWN BANDED COCKROACH

Brown banded cockroaches mostly stay on the ground but may fly in very warm climates. Their preference for warm, humid environments leads them to harbourage within heated buildings, ceilings, attics, inside and around appliance motors. It is common to find them hiding nearer the ceiling than the floor and away from water sources.
Primarily active at night, these opportunistic feeders, particularly enjoy materials with high starch contents. .Brown-banded Cockroaches are small and live indoors in the human habitat. They are also referred to as Furniture Cockroach because they tend to be found under the furniture and narrow spaces. The females are shorter than the males.
These cockroaches prefer to live on ground despite being expert flyers. They fly only to find food and water sources or to escape from potential predators. These cockroaches can cause a number of health risks to humans since they are known to carry deadly bacteria which cause gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhea. They stealthily feeding on leftover starch and carbohydrate-rich food.

Egg:During her adult life, a female produces about 14 egg capsules, each containing an average of 13 eggs. The length of the egg stage varies depending on the temperature. Eggs are laid in capsules, which the female carries for about 30 hours before she fastens it on to walls, ceilings in protected and hidden areas.

Nymph: The stage ranges between 8 to 31 weeks.

Adult:Adult male brown banded cockroaches are about ½ inch long and light brown in colour with fully developed wings. The adult females are shorter than the males and their wings do not cover the entire abdomen.
The average life span is nearly 30 to 45 weeks.
